The Avenue Hollywood was envisioned as sophisticated ‘architectural apartments and penthouses’ located in the heart of Hollywood, California with upscale, resort-like amenities. In collaboration with Cuningham Group Architects, the project was developed to include a dramatic open space with a wide range of outdoor “rooms”. Using rich textures and materials and an exotic plant palette to define the landscape, we created a variety of intimate lounging and communal spaces on a large podium courtyard. The design incorporates hardwood decks, pin striped inspired ground plane patterns, sculptural aloe trees, glass framed viewed, and bizzaza tile accents. A series of ‘succulent arches’ provides a rhythm to circulation through the space, and a unique detail when viewed from above. The transformation of this on-structure space into an inviting garden-like environment has created an identifying element for the whole project, which brings the residents together and has greatly enhanced the entire development.
