The Long Beach and Burnett Family Apartments include both townhouse units along the street as well as a community courtyard. The streetscape was designed to reinforce an entry garden or townhouse scale garden with flowering cannis and mountain marigolds enclosed by pruned hedges. An amphitheater-stepped garden invites residents to ascend to the second level with a variety of shade-tolerant species. The primary courtyard space includes a play space for children on one end with a small-scale fountain anchoring the opposite end. Pockets for furniture and built-in sections provide opportunities for both large-scale events as well as more intimate gatherings. The planting palette includes multiple species that bloom seasonally.
