Bell Residence

The owner of this beautiful classic Spanish-style residence in Holmby Hills wanted to redefine the interior and exterior spaces to reflect his strong sense of style. Many of the interior finishes were grounded in classic Spanish vernacular, but there were unexpected twists or interpretations to the interior design. With the use of bold colors, tones and patterns, we enhanced those elements in the garden.

The design reclaimed the grossly underutilized front yard to provide an entry sequence from the street. we crafted a usable garden environment that connected the interior space as well as offer an eye-catching addition to a pedestrian neighborhood. The front entry garden was envisioned as a series of rooms: the first “room” resembles a foyer-like space entering from the sidewalk. The second space enhances and relates to the living room and entry of the house -- the focal point being a large linear fountain surrounded by gravel and a forest of aloe trees and other succulents. The third “room” – a citrus and herb garden -- connects to the interior media room just beyond the entry.
